Korea's non storage semiconductor market share is 3.3%

According to BusinessKorea, South Korea's market share in the global non storage semiconductor sector in 2022 was only 3.3%, only one-third of Japan's.
 

The total size of the global non storage semiconductor market in 2022 is 593 trillion won. Market share by country/region: United States (323 trillion won 54.5%); Europe (70 trillion won, 11.8%); Taiwan, China (61 trillion won, 10.3%); Japan (55 trillion won, 9.2%); Chinese Mainland (39 trillion won, 6.5%); South Korea (20 trillion won, 3.3%).

The report points out that in 2022, the sales of non storage semiconductors in South Korea reached 151 billion US dollars (approximately 20 trillion Korean won), with Samsung Electronics holding the largest share at 112 billion US dollars (73.9%). Next is LX Semiconductor, with $17 billion (11.2%) and SK Hynix with $890 million (5.9%).
 

According to data released by the South Korean Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Resources (MOTIE) last Friday (4th), the export value in August this year was 51.9 billion US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 8.4%. Since October last year, exports have been on a downward trend for 11 consecutive months, with a decrease of 5.8%.

According to data from relevant institutions such as the South Korean Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Resources (MOTIE) on September 1st, the export value in August this year was 51.9 billion US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 8.4%. Since October last year, exports have been on a downward trend for 11 consecutive months, with a decrease of 5.8%.
 

Among them, South Korea's semiconductor exports reached 8.56 billion US dollars in August. Although it decreased by 20.6% compared to last year, it increased by 15% compared to last month. This indicates a trend of bottoming out and rebounding. Semiconductor exports averaged $6.9 billion per month in the first quarter, $7.5 billion per month in the second quarter, and reached an average of $8 billion per month in July and August.
