Wafer fab revenue hits 3rd straight year of record growth this year

Nine of the world's top 12 foundries are located in the Asia-Pacific region. At present, only X-Fab in Europe, Tower Semiconductor in Israel and GlobalFoundries in the United States are not in the Asia-Pacific region.

 

Despite the substantial increase in SMIC's capital expenditure and the active investment of the Chinese government and private investment in the semiconductor industry, it is expected that China will find it difficult to compete in the advanced foundry business under the blacklisting of SMIC by the United States. The proportion of foundry will remain relatively stable.

 

Under this premise, it is expected that China will account for about 8.8% of the global foundry by 2026, which will be 2.6 percentage points lower than the peak of 11.4% in 2006.
